- Hip flexors shorten. When the hip flexors are held in a shortened position for hours, they begin to adaptively tighten. This pulls the pelvis forward and increases the curve in the lower back, creating a mechanical disadvantage that persists even when you stand.
- Circulation slows in the lumbar region. Reduced blood flow means slower delivery of nutrients to spinal tissue and slower removal of metabolic waste products — the biological conditions in which stiffness and discomfort develop.
None of this happens suddenly. It accumulates — which is precisely why so many people don't notice it until the stiffness in the morning becomes a dull ache through the afternoon, and the dull ache eventually becomes something they mention to a GP.

- Consider your screen position. A monitor positioned too low forces a forward head position that places up to 27kg of equivalent load on the cervical spine. Raising the screen to eye level is one of the highest-impact ergonomic changes most people can make for free.
